Jacksonville Vocational, Trade and Technical Schools

Jacksonville, Florida, with more than 836,000 residents in the city proper and 1.4 million in the metro area, offers sun, sea and a selection of trade schools and technical schools. Jacksonville is one of the largest deep water ports in the South, making it a natural manufacturing, trade, transportation and distribution hub. The city's diverse economy also supports a large technology sector. According to JAX Chamber, IT sector and health care (Jacksonville is home to more than 20 hospitals) are the industries growing the most jobs. The U.S. Census Bureau reports that Jacksonville's median household income was $48,143 between 2008 and 2012. The BLS cites May 2013 median hourly wages for in-demand jobs in Jacksonville as follows:

  • Crane and tower operators at $22.71
  • Computer network support specialists at $27.40
  • Radiation therapists at $34.96
  • Diagnostic medical sonographers at $28.41

In fast-paced and growing Jacksonville, employers in all fields are looking for skilled, trained employees. Training from one of the city's trade schools may be worth pursuing for those interested in these and other trade and vocational fields.
