Real Estate Schools and Training Courses

Rumors of the demise of real estate have been greatly exaggerated. The housing market has cooled down price-wise, but the American dream of home ownership is alive and well. Meanwhile, commercial real estate holds noteworthy potential for enterprising types. Real estate schools may offer entry into an exciting opportunity.

Realtors are the most well-known real estate professionals. To become a realtor, you must obtain your state license by passing a test, and you must also be approved by your local Board of Realtors. Classes and courses that prepare you for the process can be had in-person or online at affordable prices.

There are many other real estate training options beyond the basics, too. You can become a residential or commercial real estate appraiser or even pursue a graduate degree in real estate. Real estate career paths beyond selling property include building, insurance, and property management. Specialized courses in each of these sub-disciplines are taught at universities and online. Real estate is not so much one career path as a series of interconnected trails.

Real Estate Salary Information and Outlook

Whether you're working as a real estate broker, real estate sales agent, or real estate investor, the real estate industry is not necessarily the typical nine-to-five job. The most successful real estate professionals often work nights and weekends and pursue further real estate education at all times.

In 2006, approximately 546,000 people worked as real estate brokers or sales agents. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, about 61 percent of those individuals were self-employed. In 2008, the mean annual wage came in at $77,240 for brokers and $54,410 for sales agents. Job growth is projected to be 11 percent from 2006 to 2016. Many real estate sales agents work part-time or seasonally.

Becoming a realtor by taking classes online can open up opportunities for you without slowing you down, thanks to the flexible nature of online education. Whether you're going for a certificate or a full-on degree, you're sure to gain valuable information for entering the field. Start on your way towards one of these diplomas today.
