Hawaii is committed to innovation in its workforce development, linkage to the global economy, public education, and overall economy. To better utilize its geographical positioning in the global economy, the 50th state in the union is working to increase the exchange of products and ideas among regions of the Pacific Rim including Silicon Valley, Singapore, and Shanghai. To foster an educated and modern workforce, the state government plans to create "Lifetime Learning Accounts" which would provide employees with tax incentives to continue their career education.
Now that Hawaii has recovered from the economic stagnation of the 1990s, it has out-performed the rest of the country in employment and income growth. In 2005, personal income increased only 6.4% nationally, compared to 8.2% for Hawaii. Hawaii's outstanding economic resurgence makes it an excellent locale to pursue a bachelor's degree in global business management, international business, and public administration. MBA degrees in finance and accounting, marketing, and healthcare management can help individuals gain responsibilities and higher earning potential in their organization.
